RED CROSS YOUTH CHALLENGE 2009

In line with MOE’s vision to provide a challenging environment for our youth leaders of tomorrow, HQ is inviting school units' participation in Red Cross Youth (RCY) Challenge 2009. RCY Challenge 2009 aimed to create a platform for experiential learning and leadership development, and to allow participants to challenge themselves beyond their limits!

This year, the Red Cross Youth Challenge would be in a different format from previous years. Red Cross Youth Challenge 2009 - "The RED Race" will bring the Youth of Red Cross to several destinations in Singapore (such as West Coast Park, East Coast Park, Pulau Ubin and the Central Business District) to take part in a series of exciting challenges and discoveries.

Challenges and discoveries range from outdoor survival skills, life-saving skills, community service to discovering the heritage of Singapore. The slogan of for this year's "The RED Race" is "Ready, Excite, Discover!". Participants can look forward to a fun-filled 4 Days 3 Nights of new friendships, excitement and discovery.

The RCY Challenge would also allow participants to fulfill the criteria for National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Bronze and National Heritage Badge while immersed in 4 days of exciting and challenging activities such as:

- Archery

- Community Service

- First Aid & Evacuation

- General Station Activities

- Heritage Trail

- Kite-Making

- Map Navigation

- Outdoor Cooking

- Tent Pitching

- Campfire

The details of the camp are as follow:

Date of Camp: 17th to 20th December 2009 (Thursday to Sunday)

- Reporting time on 17th Dec 09: 9am

- Dismissal time on 20th Dec 09: 5pm

Venue: Red Cross Campsite

Contact Session: Date: 12 December 2009, Saturday (Half-Day)

Time: 9am to 12.30pm

Venue: Red Cross Campsite

Attire: Mufti

Things To Bring: Writing Materials

Camp Fees: $45 (inclusive of the official camp t-shirt, $7 application fees for NYAA Bronze, and camp fees etc)

Payment Mode: Participants may make payment in cash or cheque (payable to Singapore Red Cross Society) at the contact session.

No. of Participants: Maximum 4 x Secondary 2 / 3 cadets per unit (include Unit Leader) + 2 cadets on waiting/reserve list
