Gold Modular Workshop on 25 Feb 2012 (Sat)

Note that only light syllabus training will be given during the workshop
accreditation.
All participants must bring along a signed silver monitoring form.
Participants with an empty or without a silver monitoring form
will be turned down.

1. Casualty Evacuation Workshop cum Accreditation (Gold Syllabus)
Date : 25 February 2012
Time : 9.00am to 5.30pm (lunch is not provided, cadets are allowed to leave once
they have passed their accreditations)
Venue : Red Cross Campsite (62 Jalan Khairuddin, Singapore 457524)
Attire : Mufti (School t-shirt/ Red Cross t-shirt with dark coloured track pants and
school shoes)
Pre-Requisite : Attained Casualty Evacuation Silver Badge
Quota : Maximum of 3 cadets per school
Things to bring : 1. Writing Materials

2. First Aid Workshop cum Accreditation (Gold Syllabus)
Date : 25 February 2012
Time : 9.00am to 5.30pm (lunch is not provided, cadets are allowed to leave once
they have passed their accreditations)

Attire : Mufti (School t-shirt/ Red Cross t-shirt with dark coloured track pants and

Pre-Requisite : Attained both First Aid Silver Badge and Casualty Evacuation Silver Badge,
as well as being SFA-certified
Quota : Maximum of 3 cadets per school

Gold Monitoring Form (First Aid Only)

Introduction : This workshop aims to standardise the First Aid Syllabus across all RCY
Cadet Units via practical sessions of Bandaging and Cardio-Pulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR). First Aid Duty Planning, Team Leading and Management
will be part of the syllabus taught to Cadets. Practical Case Studies will be
conducted, making use of Casualty Evacuation such as stretchers together with
First Aid skills to assist in an emergency.
Format : Cadets would be put through a series of different bandaging scenarios and
also a hands-on practical session of CPR. Bandages are to be brought by
Cadets themselves. There will be a theory accreditation for First Aid Knowledge
Test, Map Planning and a practical accreditation for scenarios. Upon meeting
both above criteria, Cadets will be awarded First Aid (Gold) which will be
launched at the later part of the year 2012.

3. Outdoor Activities Workshop cum Accreditation (Gold Syllabus)
Date : 25 February 2012
Time : 9.00am to 5.30pm (lunch is not provided, cadets are allowed to leave once
they have passed their accreditations)
Venue : Red Cross Campsite (62 Jalan Khairuddin, Singapore 457524)
Attire : Mufti (School t-shirt/ Red Cross t-shirt with dark coloured track pants and
school shoes)
Pre-Requisite : Attained Outdoor Activities Silver Badge
Quota : Maximum of 3 cadets per school
Things to bring :

4. Completed Silver Monitoring Form & Empty Gold Monitoring Form

4. Red Cross Knowledge Workshop cum Accreditation (Gold Syllabus)
Date : 25 February 2012
Time : 9.00am to 5.30pm (lunch is not provided, cadets are allowed to leave once
they have passed their accreditations)
Venue : Red Cross Campsite (62 Jalan Khairuddin, Singapore 457524)
Attire : Red Cross Full Uniform (Incorrect attire may be penalised)
Pre-Requisite : Attained Red Cross Knowledge Silver Badge
Quota : Maximum of 1 team of 4 cadets per school. Schools may send in a reserve
team of 4 cadets, subject to vacancies.
Things to bring : 1. Writing Materials

4. PowerPoint Presentation in soft copy, to be in thumb drive (preferably) or
compact disc
5. A printout of the presentation, in two slides per page format
6. Completed Silver Monitoring Form & Empty Gold Monitoring Form
Introduction : To be awarded to Cadets who pass the Presentation Test conducted by HQ.
Teams are to choose only ONE out of the following three topics:
1) Red Cross through time: From Jean Henri Dunant till the present.
OR
2) Which is more important, the IFRC or the ICRC?
OR
3) How is the local SRCS – including RCY, assisting the Worldwide Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement?
Laptop and Projector will be provided.
Format : Teams are judged based on a 10 minutes PowerPoint presentation. There will
be a Question and Answer session after each Team’s Presentation.
Teams will be assessed on the following:
(a) Presentation Skills (30%)
(b) Presentation Content (70%)
Assessment Criteria (Teams / Individuals are to achieve at least 75% to be
considered pass)

(a) Presentation Skills (30%)
Criteria Description
Stage Presence (5%) The level of confidence of presenter
Fluency (5%) How fluent the presenter is; shows how well they
have prepared
Audience Rapport (5%) Ability to engage the audience
Body Language (5%) Posture of presenter and appropriate gestures
used
Speech Technique (5%) Appropriate use of tone, pitch, speed, etc
Knowledge on Topic (5%)Understanding of the topic presented, ability to
answer questions based on relevant questions
asked

(b) Presentation Content (70%)
Criteria Description
Introduction (10%) Presentation to have a proper introduction, as it
will lead the audience into the main focus of the
presentation.
Topic Information (20%) Presentation should include sufficient information
to briefly introduce the chosen topic.
Focus topic content (10%)Presentation to include a focus topic and it should
be covered sufficiently and extensively.
Coherence and
Organisation (10%) Presentation to be organised and structured for
smooth running of presentation.
Visual Graphics (10%) The use and coverage of visual graphics in
presentation to promote better learning and
understanding of topic.
Conclusion (10%) Presentation to conclude in a proper manner.

(c) Presentation details
1) Files to be named in the following manner:
• i.e. RCK (Gold) XXX School – Madeline Tay
2) Presentation time: 10 minutes (Excludes Questions and Answers Session)
*Teams are strongly encouraged to rehearse before coming.
3) Assessment: Teams will be assessed on Presentation Skills and Contents of
their presentation. Teams / Individuals are to achieve at least 75% to be
considered pass.
