JUNIOR RED CROSS INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME 2009 (KINKI DISTRICT)

The Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) would like to renew its international friendship with Singapore Red Cross Society (SRCS) by organizing an exchange programme in December. The proposed event will last for 7 days and is to be held in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan from 11th to 17th December 2009.

The Singapore Red Cross Youth (RCY) has been invited to send to a 10-member delegation for this programme. Each unit can nominate up to 2 cadet members to participate together with an RCY-appointed delegation leader.

Objectives of programme:

  1. To renew international ties between Japanese Red Cross Society junior members and Singapore Red Cross Youth members;
  2. To expose our Youth members at international levels in order to obtain a better understanding the other Society’s respective heritage and cultural practices.

Key Programme Highlights:

- Courtesy Call at Hyogo Chapter

- Study Visit to Red Cross Institutions

- Visitations to schools with exchange programmes between JRC/RCY members

- Participation in an Regional International Meeting ( includes discussions and fieldwork; introductions of each society’s activities; reciprocal cultural exchanges)

Criterion

- They have to be in Secondary 2 or 3

- Active voluntary service with RCY

- No medical / health problems

- Have not been on similar international programme with Red Cross Youth

- Possess good presentation and communication skills

Expenses

Only the round trip ticket will be borne by cadets. All other expenses will be incurred by Japanese Red Cross Society. More details on the total expenditure will be provided at a later date.

Please note that there will be an interview for all interested Cadets and the interview date and details will be released at a later date.

Format of interview session:

· Mass brief for all cadets on the exchange programme. Cadets who felt that they may not be suitable may choose to withdraw before the interview.

· Interview Session - Group interview by a panel of interviewers
